Arthritis affects 70 million Americans or one in every three adults. Out of the 100 different types of this autoimmune inflammatory joint disease, Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and fibromyalgia are the most common.
Considered to be the number one cause of disability in the U.S., arthritic joint pain, stiffness and loss of mobility can make everyday functioning at home, work and play difficult. For many of those suffering from the disease, just getting out of bed, dressing and fixing breakfast in the morning can be painful and frustrating.
For years, the medical community believed people had to just live with arthritis and prescribed controversial “painkillers†with serious side effects. But today, as evidence accumulates proving diet and lifestyle changes can both help prevent the disease and provide welcome symptom relief, many doctors are taking a more holistic approach.
Though it may be the last thing on your mind when your joints are aching, exercise is vitally important to both your physical and mental well-being. Walking, swimming and yoga are excellent ways to stay active and loosen up the joints with a minimum of stress.
High quality nutrition is essential for a healthy, buoyant, vibrant life. Change your diet to include more organic whole grains, colorful fruits and vegetables and fresh wild fish such as salmon. To put less stress on your hips and knees, maintain a healthy weight by eliminating sweets and keeping your fat intake between 25 and 30% of your calories. And, drink lots of pure, clean water – at least eight glasses a day.
Also, cut back on red meat. Recent studies show that people who eat red meat daily have twice the risk of arthritis as those who eat meat no more twice a week.
Nutritional supplements are also essential to good health and are recommended by the American Medical Association. Be sure to get at least a 1,000 IU’s of vitamin D. According to recent research, people with aching bones and muscles are often simply suffering from a lack of D. Many arthritis sufferers have also found significant relief from the essential fatty acids in whole grains, such as rice, wheat and soy and from omega 3 fish.

Most women start thinking about their nutrition after they find out that they’re pregnant. What they don’t realize is that by the time they test positive for pregnancy (usually 4 weeks after their last period), the baby has already been developing for 6 weeks.
So what has happened in those first 6 weeks? All of the baby’s internal organs are in place and the heart has started beating, the spine is flexible and the baby’s genitals are visible.
That’s an amazing amount of growth and development in just 6 weeks. And, without her even knowing it, the mother’s nutritional needs have increased tremendously. That’s why I recommend that all women of child-bearing age be on a complete nutritional program. That way, the nutrients are there when the baby needs them – even if the mother is not yet aware that she’s pregnant.
One supplement that’s vital for the growing baby is the omega 3 fatty acids found in Salmon Oil Plus. What do they do? Well, supplementing with omega 3 oils has been shown to play a big part in the baby’s brain and nervous system development. And, since most of this happens in the first trimester, it’s essential that the mother be on a good quality supplement before she even conceives.
Now, while the baby is benefiting from the mother’s intake of omega 3’s, they’re also doing wonders for the pregnant mother. In fact, it helps to protect her from pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy) and toxemia.
And, after giving birth, the chance of postpartum depression is also greatly reduced in mothers who are supplementing with omega 3 oils.
If the mother is nursing, the baby’s brain will continue to benefit from these essential oils. Recent research has also shown that children with high intakes of omega 3 fatty acids are also protected from asthma, ADD, ADHD and Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes.
You can now see why I consider the omega 3 oils essential for all women in their childbearing years. It’s amazingly easy to do something about and it makes an incredible difference in a child’s health.

Science proves it! Now I’m going to be even harder to live with (as if I wasn’t already). Following nature’s blueprint, as I’ve been recommending for years, is the only way to maximize your family’s health and well being.
In the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers from the National Cancer Institute found that increased intakes of alpha linolenic acid (ALA) – by itself – may increase the risk of advanced prostate cancer. The same study found that a combination of essential fatty acids ALA, Linoleic Acid (LA) and Arachadonic Acid (AA) did NOT increase prostate cancer risk. It was also found that a combination of omega-3 EPA and DHA intakes actually lowered the risk of prostate cancer. (AJCN, Vol. 80, No. 1, 204-216, 2004)
This study helps to demonstrate what I’ve been saying for years and that is the importance of “balanced” essential fatty acids, over isolated fatty acids, for optimum health. Of course, eating a whole food rich in whole grains and oily fish is important, but so is taking whole food, human food supplements, based on nature’s balanced blueprint.
So, where do you find a proper and balanced concentration of ALA, LA and AA (as they are found in whole foods)? The answer is simple; in any product that contains Tre-en-en Grain Concentrate. It’s easy to find and the best part of all is that this balanced essential fatty acid product has been there since 1958!
And, what about EPA and DHA? Well, Salmon Oil Plus is the only product that gives you the naturally balanced ratio of these omega-3 fatty acids, plus all 6 other omega 3 family members. They include ALA, SDA, ETA(3), ETA, HPA and DPA.
Hopefully, after reading a study like this, nobody who really cares about their health would knowingly take high concentrations of ALA. But, millions of people do this unknowingly every day. ALA is found in animal and non-animal sources, however, the most popular and aggressively marketed source of concentrated ALA comes in the form of “flaxseed oil.” This oil, pressed from the linseed, is unbalanced and has a very high concentration of ALA. Linseed oil (aka flaxseed oil) is used for many things, like paints and furniture polishes for example. But, it’s not listed in the USDA Database as edible for humans (by the way, neither are Borage oil or Evening Primrose oil).
ALA, in and of itself, is not bad – when balanced with other essential fatty acids as this study has shown. So, you can see, and science proves once again, that a balanced, whole food philosophy is the right philosophy for you and your family’s health. And balanced nutritional supplements give you many more benefits for your money and none of the dangers associated with isolated supplements.
Do yourself a favor. Don’t make me right again and continue taking something like flaxseed oil. Eat more nutritious whole grains and oily fish or click here to learn more about Salmon Oil Plus and click here to learn more about Tre-en-en concentrate.
