Wouldn’t it be great if there was a magic pill that you could take that would simply melt off the pounds? Of course it would! Then you could eat whatever you wanted and maintain a slim, healthy physique. Sadly, that pill does not exist, but taking a daily dose of fish oil could make your weight loss routine of choice healthier and more effective. While generally speaking it is the wisest course of action to work on losing weight if you are categorized as obese, in reality the weight loss process for obese people in particular can be stressful on the body. Extreme weight loss, while ultimately a health-oriented process, can be made safer and easier on the body by taking an omega 3 supplement so that the body does not experience dramatic changes in blood pressure and cholesterol that could cause potential health problems later. In addition, having adequate amounts of omega 3 in your system can make your daily workout routine more effective and have longer lasting impact throughout your day. So whether you are looking to make a major change or you just want to give your time at the gym a little boost, start taking an omega 3 fish oil supplement today to help you cut the pounds.

When you become pregnant, your doctor will likely recommend that you stop eating fatty fish like tuna and mackerel. If they are a major part of your diet, you will likely be encouraged to limit your consumption to no more than once a week. This is because these fish often contain traces of the element mercury, which can build up in the body and even cause health problems that are, as a body, called mercury poisoning. However, eliminating these common elements of your diet can cause a major shortage in omega 3 fatty acids, which are essential to the development of your baby and to the nutritional quality of your breast milk once the baby is born. Fortunately, there is an alternative. Arctic salmon are also high in omega 3, but they live in the clear, icy waters of the Arctic Circle where there is relatively low pollution. In addition, many high-quality omega 3 supplements are made from Arctic salmon, and the best supplements are guaranteed toxin-free for your peace of mind. So just because you are giving up tuna for the duration of your pregnancy does not mean that you have to give up on this essential nutrient that will play a major role in the growth and development of your child.

Nearly all research and scientific studies are in agreement that the best thing for infants is their mother’s breast milk. However, if breast milk is not an option, you will always want to use the best formula possible for your new baby, and according to several studies recently released by Healthspan, a British pediatric wellness group, infants fed omega 3-rich formula performed nearly as well on cognitive tests as infants who were breast fed, and they actually performed as well or better than infants who were breastfed but whose mothers had low levels of omega 3 in their diets (http://www.omega3forchildren.co.uk/articles/article_details.aspx?id=231). While the benefits of omega 3 certainly do not stop when a child reaches the age to stop breast feeding, getting enough omega 3 early in life leads to better brain development, superior eyesight and can even help prevent the health conditions that often lead to the development of juvenile diabetes. So whether you breast feed your child or you plan to use formula, make sure that you take the necessary steps to insure that they are getting enough omega 3 each and every day.
