They contribute to heart health, your ability to recall important facts and faces, mental well being and can decrease the odds of stroke and juvenile diabetes. As a result of all these health benefits (and many more) many people have started taking <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">omega 3</a> supplements, usually in the form of <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">fish oil</a> tablets or capsules. This is great for their overall health and can ultimately lead to a better quality of life. </p>
<p>However, most people do not realize that just taking omega 3 supplements is not enough. Omega 3 fatty acids are related to – and interact closely with – another fatty acid called omega 6 fatty acids. The more omega 6s you consume, the more omega 3s you need to balance those omega 6s out. In fact, you should be getting more than twice as many omega 3s as omega 6s in most cases. You can deal with this in several ways. </p>
<p>The easiest way is to limit your omega 6 intake, since most conventional western diets contain “too many” (by dietician’s standards) omega 6s anyway. This will involve increasing your fresh fruit and vegetable intake and cutting down on processed fats, which is good for you anyway. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For decades <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">fish oil</a> has come with the warning that it may interact with medications like aspirin and should be consumed with care and under a physician’s supervision if you take aspirin for medical purposes. However, Israeli researchers have recently brought a new twist on this long-time warning to the table. In recent studies, patients who needed the effects of aspirin for a variety of illnesses including heart trouble but who had been compelled to take stronger medications instead due to aspirin-resistance were found to experience the effects and benefits of aspirin more readily when the over-the-counter medication was taken in conjunction with doses of omega-3 rich <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">fish oil</a>. </p>
<p>In short, when the aspirin-resistant patients took omega-3 fish oil with their aspirin, they got positive effects from the aspirin similar to those that a non-resistant patient would have gotten. While these results are not conclusive since the year-follow-up only included 24 patients, the study indicates that people who are unable to take aspirin for their heart problems may have a simple, non-prescription solution in the future. </p>
<p>It should be noted that heart physicians and specialists are of two camps when it comes to aspirin resistance, and not all believe that it is an issue. However, this study does indicate that aspirin resistance can be overcome with doses of <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">omega 3</a> rich fish oil, and the other heart benefits of this product are generally acknowledged at this point by physicians and the American Heart Association (AHA).<br />
If you are taking any medication for heart problems, do not add a fish oil supplement without first consulting your doctor. Never change, halt or add any medications or supplements without first consulting your physician. </p>

Now Singapore is taking that treatment and applying it in a new way to help treat young prisoners . Since many disruptive and aggressive children have been found to suffer from ADD and ADHD, Singaporean officials hope that giving a daily dose of the health supplement to young people in juvenile detention facilities may help them improve their daily conduct and focus on getting out of the bad situations that their behavior may have placed them in. </p>
<p>“This study is the first of its kind in Singapore,” said principal investigator Daniel Fung, head of the Singapore Institute of Mental Health’s Child and Adolescent  Psychiatry department.  Similar studies in Britain and Holland have found that children and teens with coordination disorders and “aggressive young prisoners” experienced improved behavior abilities and focus after the implementation of the health supplement. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Many vegetarians choose this dietary lifestyle because they believe that it is healthier to avoid consuming meat and focus largely or entirely on fruits, vegetables and other non-meat options for protein, vitamins and minerals. As a result of this decision, vegetarians often decide to stop taking <a href="http://www.omega-3.us/fish-oil/fish-oil-supplements/">fish oil supplements</a>, believing that since they come from meat – the meat of tuna, salmon or other fatty fish, to be specific – they cannot possibly be as good for you as people claim. </p>
<p>Sadly, this is not the case. Without sufficient <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">omega 3</a> fatty acids, your body, your brain and your immune system simply cannot function as effectively and efficiently as they are designed to.  As a result, if you eliminate all fish products from your diet along with red and white meats, you are inarguably doing yourself a serious disservice and imperiling your health. </p>
<p>Alternatives like flax seed oil and krill have been proven to be less effective than <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">fish oil</a> at conveying <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">omega 3</a> to your system, and many forms of these alternative sources do not even have the right types of omega 3 fatty acids in them. So if you are a vegetarian for your health, then do not rule out <a href="http://www.omega-3.us">fish oil</a> as part of your diet. You are not making yourself healthier by doing so.</p>
